This week PC 2300 Thompson and PC 1372 Breeze from Coleshill safer neighbourhood team carried on with a tradition that has been ongoing for over 20 years, participating in ‘Hurley Police week’.
Throughout the week officers have been into Hurley Primary school and spent the week with the year 6 students, the students have been learning all about the role of a Police officer and what is entailed in the day-to-day role. Students have participated in many practical sessions including running the Police fitness test, using breathalysers and metal detection equipment alongside learning the Police caution and phonetic alphabet.
We also were joined on Thursday morning by firefighters from Atherstone fire station who gave a really useful and important input to the children regarding water safety. In this morning the children were informed about the dangers of swimming in open water and rivers and were also shown equipment in which the fire service use when dealing with water related incidents.
This has been a thoroughly enjoyable week with all students showing great enthusiasm, the effort they applied throughout the week was brilliant to see. We look forward to next years Hurley Police week and wish the year 6 students all the best with their next journey at secondary school in September.
